[11] Bhikkhus, I claim to have attained the perfection and consummation of direct knowledge (abhiññā) regarding dhammas not heard before (ananussutesu dhammesu). Bhikkhus, there are these five Tathāgata-powers of the Tathāgata, endowed with which powers the Tathāgata claims the place of the chief bull (āsabhaṇṭhāna), roars his lion's roar in the assemblies, and sets rolling the wheel of Brahmā (brahmacakka). What five? The power of faith (saddhābala), the power of moral shame (hiribala), the power of moral dread (ottappabala), the power of energy (vīriyabala), and the power of wisdom (paññābala). These, bhikkhus, are the five Tathāgata-powers of the Tathāgata, endowed with which powers the Tathāgata claims the place of the chief bull, roars his lion's roar in the assemblies, and sets rolling the wheel of Brahmā.
