[15] Bhikkhus, there are these five powers (bala). What five? The power of faith (saddhā), the power of energy (vīriya), the power of mindfulness (sati), the power of concentration (samādhi), and the power of wisdom (paññā). And where, bhikkhus, is the power of faith to be seen? The power of faith is to be seen here: in the four factors of stream-entry (sotāpattiyaṅga). And where, bhikkhus, is the power of energy to be seen? The power of energy is to be seen here: in the four right exertions (sammappadhāna). And where, bhikkhus, is the power of mindfulness to be seen? The power of mindfulness is to be seen here: in the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna). And where, bhikkhus, is the power of concentration to be seen? The power of concentration is to be seen here: in the four jhānas. And where, bhikkhus, is the power of wisdom to be seen? The power of wisdom is to be seen here: in the four noble truths (ariyasacca). These, bhikkhus, are the five powers.
