[349] 78. Bhikkhus, possessing six qualities, a bhikkhu dwells with abundant happiness and joy in this very life, and the groundwork (yoni) has been laid by him for the destruction of the taints (āsava). What six? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu delights in the Dhamma; he delights in development (bhāvanā); he delights in abandonment (pahāna); he delights in seclusion (paviveka); he delights in non-affliction (abyāpajjha); he delights in non-proliferation (nippapañca). Possessing these six qualities, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu dwells with abundant happiness and joy in this very life, and the groundwork has been laid by him for the destruction of the taints.
