[401] "…of hatred (dosa), of delusion (moha), of anger (kodha), of grudge (upanāha), of denigration (makkha), of domineering rivalry (paḷāsa), of envy (issā), of avarice (macchariya), of deceit (māyā), of hypocrisy (sātheyya), of obstinacy (thambha), of contentiousness (sārambha), of conceit (māna), of excessive conceit (atimāna), of vanity (mada), of heedlessness (pamāda) — for direct knowledge (abhiññā), for full understanding (pariññā), for utter destruction (parikkhaya), for abandonment (pahāna), for destruction (khaya), for vanishing (vaya), for dispassion (virāga), for cessation, for giving up (cāga), for relinquishment (paṭinissagga) … Bhikkhus, these six dhammas should be developed."
This is what the Blessed One said. Elated, those bhikkhus delighted in the Blessed One's words.
