[182] (Pali paragraph ๙๒) "Friends, a bhikkhu endowed with two qualities is capable of benefiting others, but not himself. Which two? Here, friends, a bhikkhu is not quick to grasp wholesome qualities; he is not one who retains the teachings he has heard; he is not one who examines the meaning of the teachings he has retained; nor, having understood the meaning and understood the teaching, does he practise in accordance with the Dhamma. Yet (1) he has lovely speech and lovely delivery, being endowed with urbane speech that is distinct, faultless, and makes the meaning clear; and (2) he is one who instructs, encourages, inspires, and gladdens his companions in the holy life. Endowed with these two qualities, friends, a bhikkhu is capable of benefiting others, but not himself."
