[183] Bhikkhus, these eight dhammas lead to the decline of a bhikkhu who is a trainee (sekha). What eight? Delight in work (kammārāmatā), delight in talk, delight in sleep, delight in company, being unguarded as to the doors of the sense faculties, immoderation in eating, delight in association (saṃsagga), and delight in proliferation (papañca). These, indeed, bhikkhus, are the eight dhammas that lead to the decline of a bhikkhu who is a trainee.
