[302] Bhikkhus, these six things (dhammā) lead to the decline of a bhikkhu who is a learner (sekha). What six? Delight in work (kammārāmatā), delight in talk (bhassārāmatā), delight in sleep (niddārāmatā), delight in company (saṅgaṇikārāmatā), being unguarded in the doors of the sense faculties (indriyesu aguttadvāratā), and immoderation in eating (bhojane amattaññutā). These six things, bhikkhus, lead to the decline of a bhikkhu who is a learner. Bhikkhus, these six things lead to the non-decline of a bhikkhu who is a learner. What six? Not delighting in work, not delighting in talk, not delighting in sleep, not delighting in company, being guarded in the doors of the sense faculties, and moderation in eating. These six things, bhikkhus, lead to the non-decline of a bhikkhu who is a learner.
