[198] [108] Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu possesses eight qualities, the Saṅgha, if it wishes, may carry out against him the act of reconciliation (paṭisāraṇīyakamma). Which eight? (1) He strives for the loss of gains for householders; (2) he strives for the harm of householders; (3) he abuses and reviles householders; (4) he divides householders from householders; (5) he speaks dispraise of the Buddha; (6) he speaks dispraise of the Dhamma; (7) he speaks dispraise of the Saṅgha; and (8) he does not make good a legitimate promise given to householders. Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu possesses these eight qualities, the Saṅgha, if it wishes, may carry out against him the act of reconciliation.
