[191] Bhikkhus, possessing ten qualities, a female lay follower (upāsikā) is deposited in hell (niraya) as if brought and placed there. Which ten? She is one who destroys life (pāṇātipāta) … she is one of wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi). Possessing these ten qualities, bhikkhus, a female lay follower is deposited in hell as if brought and placed there. Bhikkhus, possessing ten qualities, a female lay follower is deposited in heaven (sagga) as if brought and placed there. Which ten? She is one who abstains from the destruction of life … she is one of right view (sammādiṭṭhi). Possessing these ten qualities, bhikkhus, a female lay follower is deposited in heaven as if brought and placed there.
