[180] 2. This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard: "Bhikkhus, abandon one thing (dhamma); I am your guarantor (pāṭibhoga) for the state of a non-returner (anāgāmitā). What one thing? Hatred (dosa), bhikkhus — abandon this one thing; I am your guarantor for the state of a non-returner." The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In this connection it is said: "The hatred whereby beings corrupted by hate go to a bad destination (duggati) — rightly understanding that hatred, those who see with insight abandon it; having abandoned it, they never come back to this world again." This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard. The Second.
