[180] 2. This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, abandon one thing (dhamma); I am your guarantor (pāṭibhoga) for the state of a non-returner (anāgāmitā). What one thing? Hatred (dosa), bhikkhus — abandon this one thing; I am your guarantor for the state of a non-returner."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In this connection it is said:
"The hatred whereby beings corrupted by hate
go to a bad destination (duggati) —
rightly understanding that hatred,
those who see with insight abandon it;
having abandoned it, they never
come back to this world again."
This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard. The Second.
