[182] 4. This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant — so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, abandon one thing (dhamma): I am your guarantor (pāṭibhoga) for the state of non-returning (anāgāmitā). What one thing? Anger (kodha), bhikkhus — abandon this one thing, and I am your guarantor for the state of non-returning."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning (attha). In this connection, this is said:
"The anger by which angered beings
go to a bad destination (duggati) —
rightly understanding that anger,
those who see with insight abandon it;
having abandoned it, they never
come again to this world."
This meaning, too, was spoken by the Blessed One — so I have heard. The fourth.
