[183] 5. This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant — so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, abandon one thing; I am your guarantor (pāṭibhoga) for non-returning (anāgāmitā). What one thing? Denigration (makkha) — bhikkhus, abandon this one thing, and I am your guarantor for non-returning."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In that connection, this is said:
"Beings smeared with denigration
go to a bad destination;
having rightly understood that denigration,
those who see with insight abandon it;
and having abandoned it, they never
come back to this world at any time."
This meaning, too, was spoken by the Blessed One — so I have heard. The Fifth.
