[185] 7. This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant — so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, one who does not directly know and does not fully understand the all (sabba), who does not make the mind (citta) dispassionate toward it and does not abandon it, is incapable of the destruction of suffering (dukkha). But, bhikkhus, one who directly knows and fully understands the all, who makes the mind dispassionate toward it and abandons it, is capable of the destruction of suffering."
The Blessed One spoke this matter. Concerning this, it is said:
"One who, having known the all in every respect,
is not attached to anything at all —
he indeed, having fully understood the all,
has passed beyond all suffering."
This matter, too, was spoken by the Blessed One — so I have heard.
