[192] This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant—so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, I do not see even a single other hindrance (nīvaraṇa), hindered by which beings run on and wander for a long time, as this, bhikkhus: the hindrance of ignorance (avijjā). For, bhikkhus, hindered by the hindrance of ignorance, beings run on and wander for a long time."
The Blessed One spoke this matter. In this connection it is said:
"There is no other single thing (dhamma)
by which beings are so hindered
that they wander on day and night,
as when shrouded by delusion (moha).
But those who, having abandoned delusion,
have shattered the mass of darkness,
wander on no more:
in them the cause is found no more."
This matter too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard.
