[242] This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, there are these three kinds of misconduct (duccarita). What three? Misconduct by body (kāyaduccarita), misconduct by speech (vacīduccarita), and misconduct by mind (manoduccarita). These, bhikkhus, are the three kinds of misconduct."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In this connection it is said:
"Having done misconduct by body,
and misdeeds of speech as well,
having done misconduct by mind,
and whatever else is tainted with fault;
not having done wholesome deeds (kusala kamma),
having done much that is unwholesome (akusala),
with the breakup of the body, that unwise one
is reborn in hell (niraya)."
This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard.
The fifth.
