[244] This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, there are these three kinds of purity (soceyya). What three? Purity of body, purity of speech, and purity of mind. These, bhikkhus, are the three kinds of purity."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In this connection it is said:
"Pure in body, pure in speech,
pure in mind, without taints (āsava) —
the pure one, endowed with purity,
they call 'one who has abandoned all.'"
This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard.
