[245] This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, there are these three kinds of sagacity (moneyya). What three? Sagacity of body, sagacity of speech, and sagacity of mind. These, bhikkhus, are the three kinds of sagacity."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In this connection it is said:
"The sage (muni) in body, the sage in speech,
the sage in mind, free of taints (āsava) —
that sage, endowed with sagacity,
they call one who has washed away evil."
This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard. The Eighth.
