[398] "Might there be, by yet another method, …?" … And how might there be? "Whatever suffering (dukkha) originates, all of it has craving (taṇhā) as its condition" — this is one contemplation. "But with the remainderless fading away and cessation of that very craving, there is no origination of suffering" — this is the second contemplation. For one who rightly contemplates the dualities (dvayatā) in this way … then the Teacher said this further:
A person with craving as his companion,
wandering on this long journey,
does not pass beyond saṃsāra
with its being thus and being otherwise.
Having known this danger —
that craving is the origination of suffering —
free from craving, without grasping,
mindful, let the bhikkhu wander forth.
