[318] 12. "Though truly I was wise, competent to ponder what is beneficial, the five strands of sensual pleasure (pañca kāmaguṇā) in the world, utterly deluding, brought me down. Plunged into Māra's domain (māravisaya), transfixed by a firm dart, yet I was able to free myself from the snare of the King of Death (Maccurāja). All sensual pleasures (kāmā) have been abandoned by me; all existences (bhava) have been shattered; the round of births (jātisaṃsāra) is utterly exhausted; there is now no renewed existence (punabbhava)."
