[319] 13. "Listen, kinsmen, all of you, as many as are gathered here: I shall teach you the Dhamma — birth (jāti) again and again is suffering (dukkha). Exert yourselves! Go forth! Apply yourselves to the Buddha's teaching (buddhasāsana)! Sweep away the army of Death (maccu) as an elephant does a hut of reeds. Whoever shall dwell heedful in this Dhamma and Discipline (dhammavinaya), abandoning the round of births (jātisaṃsāra), shall make an end of suffering." Abhibhūta the Elder.
