[320] 14.
Wandering on in saṃsāra, I went to hell (niraya);
again and again I went to the world of ghosts (petaloka);
and in the painful realm of animals (tiracchānayoni) too,
many a time indeed did I dwell long.
Human existence (bhava), too, was won by me;
from time to time I went to the heavenly host (saggakāya);
I have stood among the elements of form (rūpadhātu) and the formless elements (arūpadhātu),
among the neither-percipient [nor non-percipient] and among the non-percipient.
Well have I understood the becomings (sambhava) to be without essence—
conditioned (saṅkhata), unstable, ever shaken;
having understood that [becoming] as having its origin in myself,
mindful (satimā), I attained peace (santi) itself.
