It was well indeed, it seems, that my mother showed me the goad;
having heard her word, admonished by her who bore me,
with energy (vīriya) aroused, resolute, I attained the supreme awakening (sambodhi).
I am an arahant, worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya),
possessed of the three true knowledges (tevijja), a seer of the deathless (amata);
having conquered the army of Namuci, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Whatever taints were found in me, both within and without,
have all been cut off without remainder, and they do not arise again.
Truly assured, the sister spoke this matter:
"Surely now, even as in me, the thicket (vanatha) is not found in you."
Suffering (dukkha) has been brought to an end;
this composite body is the last;
the round of birth and death (jāti-maraṇa-saṃsāra) is finished —
now there is no renewed existence (punabbhava).
