"Truly it was for my benefit that the Buddha
came to the river Nerañjarā;
hearing whose Dhamma,
I gave up wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi).
I performed sacrifices high and low;
I offered the fire oblation (aggihutta),
thinking, 'This is purity (suddhi)' —
a blind worldling (puthujjana).
Plunged into the thicket of views (diṭṭhigahana),
deluded by adherence (parāmāsa),
I imagined impurity to be purity —
blind, unknowing.
Wrong view has been abandoned by me;
all existences (bhava) have been shattered.
I make oblation to the fire worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyyaggi);
I pay homage to the Tathāgata.
All delusions (moha) have been abandoned by me;
craving for existence (bhavataṇhā) has been shattered;
the round of births (jātisaṃsāra) is utterly exhausted;
there is now no renewed existence (punabbhava)."
