"'O Jīvā, my child!' — so you wail in the forest.
Come to yourself, Ubbirī!
Eighty-four thousand, all bearing the name Jīvā,
have been burned in this charnel ground:
for which of them do you grieve?"
"Truly he has drawn out the dart (salla) from me,
so hard to see, lodged in my heart,
in that, for me who was overwhelmed by sorrow,
he has dispelled the sorrow for my daughter.
Today — the dart drawn out — I am free of hunger, fully quenched (parinibbutā);
to the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Saṅgha — to the Sage (muni) — I go for refuge (saraṇa)."
