[45] 7. "With surpassing beauty (vaṇṇa) … and your beauty shines forth in all directions." That devatā (deity), delighted at being questioned by Moggallāna, … of what deed (kamma) this is the fruit (phala): "A handful of blue water-lilies (indīvara) I gave to a bhikkhu walking for alms, in the city lofty with pillars (esikā), in excellent, delightful Paṇṇakata. Because of that my beauty is such … and my beauty shines forth in all directions." (1) ______________________ "With surpassing beauty … and your beauty shines forth in all directions." That devatā, delighted at being questioned by Moggallāna, … of what deed this is the fruit: "A handful of blue lotuses (nīluppala) I gave to a bhikkhu walking for alms, in the city lofty with pillars, in excellent, delightful Paṇṇakata. Because of that my beauty is such … and my beauty shines forth in all directions." (2) _________________ "With surpassing beauty … and your beauty shines forth in all directions." That devatā, delighted at being questioned by Moggallāna, … of what deed this is the fruit: "One white of root and green of leaf, grown in the water of a lake, I gave to a bhikkhu walking for alms, in the city lofty with pillars, in excellent, delightful Paṇṇakata. Because of that my beauty is such … and my beauty shines forth in all directions." (3) _________________ "With surpassing beauty … and your beauty shines forth in all directions." That devatā, delighted at being questioned by Moggallāna, … of what deed this is the fruit: "I, glad of heart, gave buds of jasmine (sumana), ivory in color, to the glad-hearted bhikkhu walking for alms, in the city lofty with pillars, in excellent, delightful Paṇṇakata.
