[28] 11. "You who stand, O devatā, with surpassing beauty,
illuminating all the directions like the star Osadhī —
by what is such beauty yours …
and your beauty shines forth in all directions?"
That devatā, delighted when questioned by Moggallāna,
… of what deed (kamma) this is the fruit:
"I, a human being among humans,
in a former birth (jāti) in the human world,
saw the stainless Buddha, serene, unclouded;
confident at heart, I gave him alms-food with my own hands.
Because of that such beauty is mine …
and my beauty shines forth in all directions."
The Second Vimāna of the Giver of Alms-food (Dutiyabhikkhādāyikavimāna), the eleventh.
Summary (uddāna):
Dāsī and Lakhumā, then Ācāmadāyikā;
Caṇḍālī and Bhadditthikā, Soṇadinnā, Uposathā;
Niddā and Sudinnā, and the two givers of alms-food —
thus is this chapter recited.
