[49] 11. "O devatā, you who stand with surpassing beauty (vaṇṇa),
illumining all the directions like the star Osadhī —
by what is such beauty yours? …
and your beauty shines forth in all directions?"
That devatā, delighted, questioned by Moggallāna,
… of what deed (kamma) this is the fruit:
"When I was a human being among humans,
having seen ascetics (samaṇa) possessed of virtue,
I venerated their feet and made my mind serene with confidence;
and, delighted, I made the salutation with joined palms (añjali).
By that is such beauty mine, …
and my beauty shines forth in all directions."
