[2096] Even if a man of vast wisdom speaks what is meaningful, being without riches,[5] of little wealth, destitute, that word of his takes no root in the midst of his kinsmen, #1 Sī. santhānagato. M. sandhānagato. 2 M. sirī hi naṃ. 3 M. paññā. Sī. pañño. #4 Sī., Yu. peccampi. 5 Yu. anālayo. and fortune (sirī) does not come to one endowed with wisdom. Seeing this too, I say: the wise man is inferior; only the man of fortune is superior.
