Mahāsutasomajātaka

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (2) · Vol. 28 · Section 334

[334] Not for myself do I lament, nor for children and wife, nor for wealth, nor for realm; but the ancient dhamma of the good has been practiced: it is over that pledge (saṅgara) to the brahmin that I grieve. That pledge was made by me with the brahmin while I stood established in sovereignty in my own realm; having fulfilled that pledge to the brahmin, guarding truth, I shall return again.
