[451] Not as of old, alas, good sirs, is the king, sovereign of all the earth, lord of the quarters:
today he does not watch the dancing, nor does he set his mind on song.
He looks not at the deer, nor at the park, nor does he gaze upon the swans;
sitting silent like a mute, he does not administer the affairs [of state].
