[549] Questioned by him, Mātali the deva-charioteer answered; knowing the result (vipāka) of evil deeds, he declared it to one who knew not: "Those of utterly evil character who injure and revile a virtuous ascetic (samaṇa) or a brahmin — they of cruel deeds, having engendered evil, these people fall (head-downward) into the copper cauldron (Lohakumbhī)."
