[557] Questioned by him, Mātali the deva-charioteer explained; knowing, he declared the result (vipāka) of evil deeds to one who knew not: "Sheep-butchers, pork-butchers, and fishermen, having slain cattle and buffalo, goats and sheep, spread them out upon the slaughter-blocks; those of cruel deeds, having begotten evil — these are the people who lie here cut to pieces."
