[581] "This mansion (byamha) shines forth, well-fashioned of crystal,²
thronged with hosts of noble women, resplendent with its pinnacled halls,
furnished with food and drink, and with both dance and song;
rivers flow round about it,¹ lined with trees of many flowers —
rājāyatana and wood-apple trees, mangoes, sālas, and rose-apples,
tindukas and piyālas — many trees ever bearing fruit.
Delight comes over me, O charioteer, at this sight.
I ask you, Mātali, charioteer of the devas:
what good deed did this mortal do,
that, having attained heaven, he rejoices in this mansion (vimāna)?"
