[583] "This palace (byamha) shines, wrought of beryl (veḷuriya),
endowed with grounds, laid out in portions, measured part by part.
Kettledrums (ālambara) and tabors (mudiṅga), dance and song, and music well played —
divine sounds stream forth, pleasing to hear, delighting the mind.
Never before, indeed, do I recall a sound of such a kind,
so splendid as this, whether seen or heard.
Delight indeed comes over me, O charioteer, at the sight;
I ask you, Mātali, charioteer of the devas:
what good deed has this mortal done,
that, attained to heaven (sagga), he rejoices in a mansion (vimāna)?"
