[880] With arrows and with well-whetted spears [2]
the foes strike him and pierce him through —
Kāla and Upakāla, in the dreadful hell (niraya) —
the man who formerly wrought evil deeds (kamma).
As he is struck, passing along in hell,
torn open at belly and at flank, his stomach ripped apart,
his limbs hacked to pieces, streaming with blood —
who could call in the thousand from him in the other world?
