Mahānāradakassapajātaka

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (2) · Vol. 28 · Section 889

[889] "I tremble like a tree that is being cut down; bewildered in perception (saññā), I do not know the direction; I am tormented with fear — great is my fear — having heard the verses (gāthā) spoken by you, O sage. As the midst of the waters when all is ablaze, as an island amid the flood in the ocean, as a light in the darkness, so are you our refuge, O sage. Instruct me, O sage, in the good (attha) and in the Dhamma; assuredly, in the past, wrong has been done by me. Declare to me, Nārada, the path of purity (suddhimagga), so that I may not fall into hell (niraya)."
