[971] Virtuous and free from greed (alobha), and compliant with the king,
working his welfare both openly and in private — such a one may dwell in the royal court.
He should be one who knows the king's wish (chanda), and one who stands fast by the king's mind (citta);
his conduct should never run contrary — such a one may dwell in the royal court.
At the (king's) robing and at his bathing, he should wash the feet with head bowed low;
even when struck he should not grow angry — such a one may dwell in the royal court.
