[113] **"Contemplating purity, he believes that to be knowledge (ñāṇa)"**: one who sees the pure — he is one contemplating purity. **"He believes that to be knowledge"**: he believes the seeing of form with eye-consciousness to be knowledge; he believes it to be the path; he believes it to be the way; he believes it to be the means of deliverance (niyyāna). Therefore: "contemplating purity, he believes that to be knowledge." Hence the Blessed One said:
"I see the pure, the supreme, the one free from disease;
by what is seen comes a person's complete purity."
Understanding thus, having known it as "the supreme,"
contemplating purity, he believes that to be knowledge.
