[189] **This is indeed subject to separation (vinābhāvasantamevidaṃ)**: when difference, separation, and becoming otherwise exist, are found, are obtained. For this was said by the Blessed One: "Enough, Ānanda, do not sorrow, do not lament. Have I not already declared, Ānanda, that there is difference, separation, and becoming otherwise from all that is dear and agreeable? How could it be obtained here, Ānanda: 'May that which is born, come to be, conditioned (saṅkhata), and subject to disintegration not disintegrate'? That is not possible." Because of the change and becoming otherwise of each preceding aggregate (khandha), element (dhātu), and sense base (āyatana), each subsequent aggregate, element, and sense base occurs; thus, "this is indeed subject to separation."
