[204] **"Only the name will remain to be declared":** what pertains to form (rūpa), what pertains to feeling (vedanā), what pertains to perception, what pertains to volitional formations, what pertains to consciousness is abandoned, given up, relinquished, disappears, perishes; only the name will remain. **"To be declared"** means: to be declared, told, uttered, explained, expressed — thus, "only the name will remain to be declared."
**"Of the person who has passed away":** **"passed away (peta)"** means dead, deceased. **"Person (jantu)"** means a being, a man, a young man (mānava), a male (posa), an individual (puggala), a living being (jīva), one who is born (jātu),¹ a creature (jantu), a mortal (indagu), a human (manuja) — thus, "to be declared of the person who has passed away."
Therefore the Blessed One said:
Seen and also heard of are those people
of whom this name is spoken;
only the name will remain
to be declared of the person who has passed away.
