[261] **"This is supreme for the noble ones (etadariyānam uttamaṃ)"**: Buddhas, disciples of Buddhas, and paccekabuddhas are called noble ones (ariyā). This is the foremost, the best, the most distinguished, the chief, the supreme, the most excellent for the noble ones, namely, the practice of seclusion (vivekacariyā). Hence, "This is supreme for the noble ones."
