[269] **"Here alone is purity" — so they assert** (idheva suddhiṃ iti vādayanti): they say, declare, speak, explain, and express purity (suddhi), full purity (visuddhi), complete purity (parisuddhi), release (mutti), deliverance (vimutti), and complete deliverance (parimutti) as being here alone. That is, they say, declare, speak, explain, and express purity, full purity, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete deliverance thus: "The world is eternal; only this is true, anything else is vain." They say, declare, speak, explain, and express purity, full purity, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete deliverance thus: "The world is not eternal … The world is finite … The world is infinite … The soul (jīva) and the body are the same … The soul is one thing, the body another … The Tathāgata exists after death … The Tathāgata does not exist after death … The Tathāgata both exists and does not exist after death … The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death; only this is true, anything else is vain." Therefore: "Here alone is purity" — so they assert.
