Māgandiyasuttanidadesa

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 334

[334] (Māgandiya, said the Blessed One,) Not by view, not by learning, not by knowledge (ñāṇa), nor even by virtue and vows is purity declared; nor by absence of view, by absence of learning, by absence of knowledge, by lack of virtue, by lack of vows — not by that either. Having relinquished these, without grasping, at peace, not dependent, one would not hanker after existence.

English translation from the Pali (Siam Raṭṭha edition) — under review, not for citation.
