[446] Quarrels and disputes are born from what is dear, together with lamentation, sorrow, and stinginess (macchariya), along with conceit (māna) and excessive conceit (atimāna), together with divisive speech; #1 M(arammavāsī, Burmese edition): paññapehi. quarrels and disputes are bound up with stinginess, and when disputes have arisen, divisive speech occurs.
