[479] **"Non-existence and also existence — that goal (attha)":** What is the existence (bhava) of the agreeable and the disagreeable (sātāsāta)? Whatever existence, coming-to-be, birth, coming into being, production, arising, and manifestation there is of the agreeable and the disagreeable — this is the existence of the agreeable and the disagreeable. What is the non-existence (vibhava) of the agreeable and the disagreeable? Whatever destruction, passing away, breaking up, complete disintegration, impermanence (aniccatā), and disappearance there is of the agreeable and the disagreeable — this is the non-existence of the agreeable and the disagreeable. **"That goal":** that which is the highest goal (paramattha); hence, "non-existence and also existence — that goal."
