[503] **"Nor is he without perception, nor is he one whose perception has vanished" (nopi asaññī na vibhūtasaññī):** Those who have entered the attainment of cessation (nirodhasamāpanna), and those who are non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), are called "without perception." He is neither one who has entered the attainment of cessation nor a non-percipient being. Those who are obtainers of the four formless attainments (arūpasamāpatti) are called "those whose perception has vanished." He is not an obtainer of the four formless attainments — hence, "nor is he without perception, nor is he one whose perception has vanished."
