[542] **They made each their own view the truth** (sakaṃ sakaṃ diṭṭhimakaṃsu saccaṃ): they made each their own view (diṭṭhi) the truth thus: "The world is eternal; this alone is true, anything else is vain" — thus they made each their own view the truth. "The world is not eternal; this alone is true, anything else is vain" … "The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death; this alone is true, anything else is vain" — thus they made each their own view the truth.
