Cūḷaviyūhasuttaniddesa

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 575

[575] **"Anointed by oneself, on one's own, with the mind" (sayameva sāmaṃ manasābhisitto)** means: one anoints oneself with one's own mind (citta), thinking, "I am skilled, a learned man, wise, intelligent, possessed of knowledge (ñāṇa), discerning, sagacious." Thus one is anointed by oneself, on one's own, with the mind.
