[633] **"Running onward, they moan about purity" (uddhaṃsarā suddhimanutthunanti):** there are some ascetics and brahmins who are proponents of running onward (uddhaṃsarāvādā). Which ascetics and brahmins are proponents of running onward? Those ascetics and brahmins who hold to absolute purity (accantasuddhi), who hold to purity through saṃsāra (the round of rebirths), who hold the view of the inefficacy of action (akiriya-diṭṭhi), who are eternalists (sassatavāda) — these are the ascetics and brahmins who are proponents of running onward. They moan about, speak of, talk of, declare, explain, and express purity, higher purity, complete purity; release, deliverance, complete release, through saṃsāra. Hence, "running onward, they moan about purity."
