[679] **"A proclaimer of purity, he saw it there as true"** — *A proclaimer of purity*: he is one who speaks of purity, who speaks of higher purity, who speaks of complete purity, who speaks of cleanness, who speaks of perfect cleanness. Or else: he is one who sees purity, who sees higher purity, who sees complete purity, who sees cleanness, who sees perfect cleanness — thus, "a proclaimer of purity." *There*: in his own view (diṭṭhi), his own acceptance (khanti), his own preference (ruci), his own creed (laddhi). *He saw it as true*: he saw, beheld, perceived, penetrated it as true, correct, real, exact, not distorted — thus, "a proclaimer of purity, he saw it there as true." Therefore the Blessed One said:
For a dogmatist (nivissavādī) is not easily guided,
putting a preconceived view before him;
depending upon whatever he relies on, he speaks of it there as excellent —
a proclaimer of purity, he saw it there as true.
